These terms attempt to formulate how it is that our thoughts could mold reality.

I believe that there are two ways our thoughts accomplish this: 1) Our thoughts generate a morpho-genic ("morpho" for shape and "genic" for creative) energy field; this works at the quantum level (see Home page discussion, by clicking on the big "J") . . . . and 2) The world's Probabilities are being manipulated over time by sheer force of will; this concept is extensively laid out in Peter J. Carroll's fantastically studious books on "Chaos Magick," Liber Null & Psychonaut, Liber Kaos, and PsyberMagick. (These excellent books are like intense science textbooks for magick.) In the final analysis, these two ways may actually be aspects of the same thing; (see the Fire Page).

In short, the more focused energy amassed, the greater the results. You could certainly see the results would be much more significant if an entire society contributed. Thus, the power of mythology is greater than simply giving humanity stories to live by; it also has generative qualities. I submit to you that humanity's mythologically-minded psi-powers may have created entities ("deities" if you will) who people then worshipped. To these entities, worship would be actual nourishment; and it would be to their advantage, possibly even a matter of survival from their viewpoints, that they keep us mentally subjugated. You can see that we would want to be very careful about how we investigated these beings. I am not saying that all of the beings in the invisible realms are harmful -- just some of them. I am saying that we would do well to investigate them in a cautious manner.

These entities, variously referred to as gods, demons, or "Archons" (greek for "rulers"), are illuminatingly discussed by Jim DeKorne in his fascinating book Pyschedelic Shamanism. Striking relationships with them is thoughtfully discussed in Ted Andrews' How to Meet & Work With Spirit Guides. Again, we need to remain conscious of the fact that we are creators in this realm; we need to be positive! We need to remain disciplined, invoking, in some form, the Wiccan rede, "And It Harm None, Do As You Will." This is not only an ethical stance; it's an attempt to restrain power which may ultimately end up becoming self-destructive if not consciously wielded. Mythology must be explored on that level as well. Mythology represents a repository of lessons to humanity about the exercise of power. If we be like unto gods, do we not have the responsibility to absorb and heal our subconscious petty selves and rise to our better natures? If we have the power to make the Universe a happier place, do we not have the responsibility to do so?
